Hudge Creative, a media marketing firm in Cadiz, has once again been named the winner of a Telly Award for a promotional video created for a local client. The video, created for Pennyroyal Hospice, won in the Local TV/Cable Not-for-Profit TV Commercial category in the 34th Annual Telly Awards competition.
Drew Hudgins, company owner and video producer, says the goal of the Pennyroyal Hospice video is to deliver the client’s message that hospice isn’t about dying, but about living. “Many have misunderstood what hospice is and does,” Hudgins said. “They believe it’s a service that comes in handy when someone is at their final 48 hours of life. But the message Pennyroyal Hospice and Hudge Creative worked so hard to deliver was this: hospice is there so patients can live to the fullest. It’s about life – and even preparing loved ones, family and friends, for the final stage of someone’s life too.”
Hudge Creative utilized local talent in the video. “The actors’ friends showed some concern when some production shots started getting shared on Facebook,” Hudgins said. Although the actors were local, the story was based on actual events. “It’s a true story of a patient in hospice care who wanted one last fishing trip.”
This is the second year in a row Hudge Creative has been recognized with a Telly Award. Hudgins believes his company’s attention to detail is one of the things that makes their projects successful. “More importantly, the attention to the story,” he says. “People want to be entertained but they also want to connect with someone. We’re all wired that way. We need to connect emotionally to others, and we have an easier time doing that when we witness someone’s story – especially if the story is noble or has moments of triumph or conquering, which this one did.”
The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, video and film productions, and online video. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.
